
The Dongfeng-5 ballistic missile (DF-5, NATO code name: CSS-4) is an intercontinental ballistic missile equipped by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force. It is 32.6 meters long, 3.35 meters in diameter, and weighs 183 tons at takeoff. It uses a two-stage liquid-fuel rocket engine, with a maximum range of 12,000 kilometers and a hit accuracy of 500 meters.
The Dongfeng-5 ballistic missile was reviewed as a strategic nuclear missile weapon at the military parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 2019.
