Chinese technology giant Huawei suddenly cut the prices of its high-end mobile phone products, further competing for the high-end mobile phone market as the year draws to a close.
According to the Daily Economic News and China Securities Journal, Huawei’s latest wave of mobile phone price reduction promotions involves its Pura 70 series, Mate X5 and other models. Huawei’s official mall shows that the promotion will start from December 20 and last until mid-February 2025, covering the entire Spring Festival.
After the direct reduction and coupons, the product price reduction range is between 15% and 21%. Among them, Huawei’s high-end flagship mobile phone Pura 70 Ultra has a maximum discount of 2,000 yuan (RMB, the same below, 372 Singapore dollars), and the price starts at 7,499 yuan after the discount; another high-end model Mate X5 folding screen mobile phone has a direct reduction of 2,500 yuan, and the price starts at 10,499 yuan after the discount.
The Pura 70 series that participated in the price reduction this time is Huawei’s high-end flagship mobile phone launched in April, and it is also Huawei’s key sales model this year. TechInsights, a semiconductor industry observation agency, previously predicted that Huawei’s Pura 70 series will ship more than 10 million units in 2024, becoming one of the main competitors of Apple’s iPhone 15 and 16 series.
Huawei’s market share in the high-end mobile phone market is rising rapidly. Judging from the global high-end mobile phone sales ranking in the third quarter of 2024, Huawei ranks third in the global market with an 8% market share, after Apple and Samsung. Industry insiders pointed out that Huawei is using some sales strategies to regain lost market share.
Huawei’s executive director, chairman of the terminal business, and chairman of the intelligent automobile solution BU, Yu Chengdong, said on Weibo last Wednesday (25th) that Huawei will have “unexpected products” next year and “products that everyone dare not think of” in the future.
