China’s National Immigration Administration announced on Thursday (June 12) that from now on, Indonesia will be included in the 240-hour transit visa exemption policy.
The head of the administration said that this move is an important measure to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, which will help enhance the good momentum of cooperation and exchanges between China and India, promote more convenient and efficient trade and investment, and promote mutual learning between civilizations and people-to-people exchanges.
The number of countries applicable to this policy has increased to 55. Among them, 40 are from Europe, including France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, etc. The other 15 countries are from the Americas, Oceania and Asia. The six countries in the Americas are the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile; the two countries in Oceania are Australia and New Zealand; the seven countries in Asia include South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Indonesia.
According to the regulations, citizens from these 55 countries who hold valid international travel documents and connecting tickets with confirmed dates and seats can enter China through any of the 60 open ports in 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) such as Beijing and Shanghai without a visa and stay in the designated areas for no more than 10 days. During their stay, they can engage in activities such as tourism, business, visits, and family visits.
