According to a report on the Singapore Lianhe Zaobao website on March 17, a Malaysia Airlines plane was suspected to have been hit by a bird, causing the engine to catch fire and was forced to return. No one was injured.
The report quoted a report from Malaysia’s China Press as saying that the incident occurred on March 15. The MH705 flight was originally scheduled to fly from Manila, Philippines to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but the engine suddenly caught fire shortly after takeoff.
According to passengers, not only did the cabin vibrate shortly after takeoff, but the engine also caught fire. The plane returned urgently and then landed safely at Manila Airport.
According to a photo uploaded by a passenger on a social media platform, flames were coming out of the left engine of the plane at the time. “The engine malfunctioned shortly after takeoff.”
Another passenger posted on Facebook that the cabin lights had flickered during the incident, but he did not notice the abnormality at first until he felt the vibration and realized that something was wrong.
The specific cause of the incident is still under investigation, but it is initially suspected that the plane may have been hit by a bird during takeoff, causing damage to the engine and fire. Malaysia Airlines has issued a statement on the matter, saying it will fully cooperate with relevant departments in the investigation and take measures to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again.
