On March 4, local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky said that he regretted that his previous meeting with US President Trump at the White House did not produce results. He said that Ukraine is ready to achieve peace “under Trump’s leadership.” He and the Ukrainian team are willing to start negotiations as soon as possible to achieve lasting peace.
Regarding the US-Ukraine mineral agreement, Zelensky said that Ukraine is willing to sign it at any time and in any convenient way. Ukraine regards the agreement as an important step towards greater security and solid security guarantees, and he hopes that the agreement will work.
In addition, Zelensky also said that in order to end the war as soon as possible, Ukraine proposes that in the first stage, Ukraine and Russia release all prisoners and implement an air and sea ceasefire, prohibiting the use of missiles, drones, bombs, etc. to attack energy and other civilian facilities. On this basis, Ukraine hopes to act quickly in all subsequent stages and work with the United States to reach a strong final peace agreement.
On February 28, Zelensky visited the White House and met with Trump. The two sides had a fierce quarrel and did not sign the US-Ukraine mineral agreement.
