US military officer changed his words: National Guard has never detained protesters

On June 11, local time, U.S. Army Major General Scott Sherman, who is responsible for deploying the U.S. National Guard and U.S. Marine Corps to the Los Angeles area, said that as of the 11th, no National Guard personnel had detained protesters, but they had received several days of training and were ready to take action if necessary.

Sherman said that the Marine Corps would also end its training and was expected to arrive on the streets of Los Angeles as early as the evening of the 12th.

Sherman said earlier in the day that the National Guard had temporarily detained some civilians, but later said that his statement was wrong and that he made the above comments based on photos and videos he had seen, but it turned out that these photos and videos were not a true portrayal of members of the Los Angeles National Guard. Sherman said he expected the protest situation to escalate.
