On the 21st local time, US President Trump left the White House and headed to the streets of Washington, D.C., to begin patrols with law enforcement.

On August 11th, US President Trump announced a series of measures, including the deployment of the first 800 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., and the federal government’s takeover of the D.C. Police Department, to address the region’s rampant violent crime and excessive homelessness. Recently, the Trump administration increased the number of National Guard troops stationed in the District from 800 to nearly 1,900, sparking growing discontent among local residents. Washington Mayor Bowser recently emphasized in an interview that local crime rates have declined significantly and that there is no current surge in crime.
