The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement on March 1st, claiming that Iran is accelerating the restoration of its missile production capabilities, posing an “existential threat” to Israel, and that Israel will not allow Iran to regain its military capabilities.
The statement said that Israel prevented Iran from producing at least 1,500 ballistic missiles during its military operation last June. IDF intelligence discovered a “significant acceleration” in Iran’s missile production before the operation, with Iran “attempting to produce approximately 8,000 missiles by 2027.”
The statement further claimed that after the “12-Day War” last June, Iran devoted resources to restoring missile production. According to IDF assessments, before the US-Israel attacks on Iran on February 28th, Iran was able to produce dozens of ballistic missiles per month, and the recovery rate was “significantly accelerated.” Iran has also invested heavily in “strengthening its underground infrastructure.”
