Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced his victory, saying “the next is a golden age for America”.
Trump was cheered by supporters when he appeared at a campaign party in West Palm Beach, Florida. Trump’s family and wife Melania, running mate Vance and House Speaker Johnson also took the stage.
In his victory speech, Trump said: “I want to thank the American people for giving me the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th and 45th president.”
Trump said this moment will “help the country heal.” He told supporters that he hopes one day they will look back and think this is “one of the most important days of your life.”
“America has given us unprecedented power,” Trump said. The Republican Party regained control of the Senate from the Democratic Party in this election.
Trump promised Americans: “I will fight for you, your families and your future every day. I will fight for you with all my strength. I will not rest until we bring the strength, security and prosperity to America, which our children and you deserve. This is the true golden age of America.”
He also vowed to repair the border and ensure national security and prosperity.
“It’s clear now that we have achieved the most incredible political achievement… Look what happened, it’s crazy, isn’t it?”
