According to reports from Anadolu Agency and Reuters, on July 6, President Trump declared that resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict will be “much faster than people think.”
Trump stated he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin “is truly feeling the pressure.”
Expressing confidence in diplomatic efforts, Trump remarked, “I trust we can sort this out—way quicker than folks expect.”
He emphasized, “Putin wants this conflict over. I can tell you that with absolute certainty. And Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, honestly, he wants to end it right now too.”
Trump also noted that the Ukraine issue will be a key topic at this week’s NATO summit. “We’re heading to NATO, and we’re going to hash this out. I think we can pull it off and bring this conflict to a close.”
On July 4, U.S. Independence Day, both Zelenskyy and Putin had phone calls with Trump. Trump is scheduled to meet with Zelenskyy on July 8. A senior U.S. official indicated that Trump is expected to communicate with Putin again after that meeting.
