According to reports, on July 16, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that President Donald Trump will travel to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey this Sunday (the 19th) to watch the World Cup final.
“We’re looking forward to Sunday’s match, and I know the President is excited to attend,” Leavitt told reporters during a press briefing. “His presence will cap off what is set to be the most watched, safest, and most successful World Cup in American history.”
Leavitt admitted she didn’t know if Trump has a favorite player, but she encouraged reporters to ask him directly. “I’m sure he’ll give you a fun answer,” she said with a smile.
She also mentioned that Trump will attend a FIFA reception at Trump Tower in New York this Friday before heading to the game.
On July 19, Argentina and Spain will face off at MetLife Stadium for the championship of the 2026 World Cup.
