According to informed US officials, the Trump administration will announce the official establishment of a “escort alliance” in the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible in the near future.

The Wall Street Journal quoted US officials on Sunday (March 15) as saying that multiple countries had agreed to form a convoy alliance to provide escort for ships passing through this key international oil shipping route. However, whether the escort operation will be launched before or after the end of the hostile actions between the US and Israel against Iran is still under discussion.

The White House declined to comment on the upcoming announcement, which may be adjusted based on the war situation.

Given the risks involved, many countries have remained noncommittal in their public statements regarding the escort mission until the cessation of hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iraq.

In an interview with NBC on Saturday (the 14th), US President Trump said that he was asking multiple countries to send warships to protect the Strait of Hormuz, and several countries had agreed to do so.

Trump also claimed that the US military had completely destroyed most of Iran’s Kharg Island, but “we might bomb it a few more times just for fun.” He said, “Iran wants to make a deal, but I don’t, because the terms aren’t good enough yet.”
