According to the Kremlin website, Putin reiterated his principled stance of supporting a swift de-escalation and resolving the conflict through political means. Pezechzian expressed his gratitude for Russia’s support to Iran, particularly its humanitarian aid.
The United States and Israel launched a large-scale military strike against Iran on February 28, and Iran retaliated against Israeli and US military bases and other targets in the Middle East. Putin and Pezechzian spoke by phone on March 6, agreeing to maintain contact through various channels.

Expressing Condolences and Concern: In the call, Putin reiterated his deepest condolences to Iranian President Pezechzian for the deaths of Supreme Leader Khamenei and his family, as well as other Iranian military and political leaders, and for the numerous civilian casualties caused by the US-Israeli attacks.
