According to reports, on June 10, former President Donald Trump was asked about his concerns regarding the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) data. He responded, “I love inflation. The numbers are fantastic.”
The data released that day showed the annual inflation rate in the US hit 4.2%, the highest in three years. Core annual inflation, excluding food and energy costs, stood at 2.9%.
“You know what I really love? I love inflation. Want to know why?” Trump continued. “Because once this war is over, I can say now… You know we’ve been taking millions of barrels of oil from there.”
“No one knows about this. Who doesn’t know? The Iranians. They only found out just now,” Trump claimed. “Late the other night, we secretly moved 22 ships because we blasted their radar to pieces.”
Trump added, “That’s why oil is now $85 a barrel.”
“We’re taking millions of barrels of oil every night, millions of barrels,” Trump stated.
It remains unclear what Trump specifically meant by “taking” oil and ships, or how this relates to US consumer prices.
