US Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed during a stopover in Kuwait City on June 24 that technical-level negotiations between Washington and Tehran are poised to resume by the end of the month. The next round of talks is expected to take place in Switzerland.
Speaking to the media before departing for Bahrain, Rubio reiterated Washington’s commitment to not undermining the security of its Gulf allies when handling matters related to Iran. “We will be fully aligned with our partners in the Gulf region,” he stated.
Earlier that day, Pakistani Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi confirmed that the technical talks are set to continue on June 30. He noted that technical teams from Pakistan and Qatar will maintain close contact with their US and Iranian counterparts in the coming weeks to ensure the effective implementation of the memorandum of understanding previously signed by the two sides.
