HA Viewpoint: If you’ve been following the robotics space, you know that the race for true “embodied AI” is heating up fast. That’s why news about Archon Robotics wrapping up a substantial seed funding round is such a big deal. They aren’t just building a robot; they’re building a general whole-body embodied brain.

As of June 29, Archon Robotics announced that they have successfully raised hundreds of millions of yuan in their seed round. This wasn’t just any group of investors—this was a who’s who of the venture capital world. The list includes industry heavyweights like ZhenFund, Gaoling Ventures, IDG Capital, and Matrix Partners. They also secured backing from leading Asian firm Gobi Partners, the HKU-Gobi Joint Fund, Qiming Venture Partners, and the Shanghai Innovation Academy. Source Capital served as the exclusive financial advisor on the deal.

So, what’s the plan for this mountain of cash? HA Viewpoint has analyzed their strategy, and it’s laser-focused. They are pouring resources into three main areas: developing the foundational models for whole-body humanoid robots, collecting massive datasets for multi-modal whole-body motion, and expanding their talent pool. Additionally, they’re setting up R&D centers across multiple locations and building out an industrial collaboration ecosystem.

The ultimate goal? Acceleration. Archon Robotics is aiming to have their open-source humanoid foundation model up and running before the end of this year. In a field where speed and open collaboration often dictate success, this is a move that’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.
