China’s military spending: expected to grow 7.2% this year

Cailianshe reported on March 5 that according to the draft report of the central and local fiscal budget for 2025 released today, my country’s defense expenditure in 2025 will be 1,784.665 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2%. The budget growth rate has remained the same for three consecutive years. From 2016 to 2025, my country’s defense budget growth rates were 7.6%, 7.0%, 8.1%, 7.5%, 6.6%, 6.8%, 7.1%, 7.2%, 7.2% and 7.2% respectively, which has been a single-digit growth for 10 consecutive years. According to another report, my country’s defense expenditure in 2024 will be 1,665.208 billion yuan, completing 100% of the budget.
