A car fell off a cliff in the Cantabria Autonomous Region of Spain on the evening of the 15th, killing four people.
According to the Cantabria Autonomous Region Government, the accident occurred near the Lunada Pass. The victims were two women and two men, aged between 20 and 21. The vehicle they were riding in lost control and ran off the road, falling off a cliff about 200 meters deep. All four people were wearing seat belts when the accident happened. Rescue workers arrived and confirmed that all four people were dead.
The Cantabria Autonomous Region Transportation Department said on the 16th that the section of the road where the accident occurred was narrow, winding, and close to the cliff. There was a small amount of snow on the road on the night of the accident, but it did not reach the level where anti-skid chains were needed. The cause of the accident should not be related to the poor road conditions in winter.
The specific cause of the accident is still under investigation.
