According to reports from CNN on the 13th, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps posted on social media that it had launched a new round of missile and drone attacks on US military bases. On the 13th, local authorities in Iran reported that the deputy governor of Khuzestan province in the southwest said at 1:35 a.m. local time, two locations near the provincial capital Ahvaz were hit by US shelling. Additionally, several other cities and counties in the province became targets of US attacks.
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the 13th strongly condemning the US attacks on Iran over the past 24 hours.
The statement said these attacks not only seriously violate the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, especially Article 2, Paragraph 4, but also pose a significant threat to international peace and security. They have effectively nullified all recent efforts to ease tensions and achieve regional peace and stability.
The statement added that just 25 days after the signing of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding, the US government has almost openly violated all its provisions. By attacking Iran’s transportation infrastructure, fishing boats, cargo ships, weather facilities, and other buildings, the US has committed the most serious war crimes.
The statement also said that by openly interfering with Iran’s necessary management arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, the US government has once again worsened the security situation in the strait and disrupted international commercial shipping. At the same time, the US military has used the territory and facilities of countries along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf to prepare for military operations against Iran, effectively turning these nations into battlefields for its illegal and criminal war against the Iranian people.
Iran emphasized that it will firmly defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against military aggression from the US and any other aggressor. Meanwhile, Iran warned any party involved in or cooperating with the aggression, saying that any source from which attacks on Iran are launched will become a legitimate target for defensive strikes by Iran’s armed forces.
