According to reports on July 12, a conservative Iranian newspaper known for its aggressive rhetoric has publicly released a list of individuals it holds responsible for the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The list includes top political figures from the United States, Israel, and several European nations.
Late on July 11, the newspaper Hamshahri posted an infographic online showing photos of 13 foreign leaders. It also included a statement from Iran’s current Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, who mentioned that Iran has compiled a personal list of targets for revenge, though no specific names were given in the statement. So far, there is no sign that the list has been officially endorsed by the Iranian government.
The infographic reportedly features U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, among others.
Other names on the list include U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
This comes after President Trump posted on social media on the evening of July 10, claiming that the U.S. military had aimed 1,000 missiles at Iran. He warned that if Iran attempted to assassinate him—or even failed in such an attempt—thousands more missiles would be launched immediately.
Multiple U.S. media outlets have reported that Israel shared intelligence with the U.S. regarding an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate Trump. On the same day, Trump told the New York Post that he had left specific instructions: “If anything happens, bomb them with a force they’ve never seen before.”
