On August 14, Light Origins officially announced the completion of a Pre-A funding round worth hundreds of millions of RMB. The round was led by CASI Capital, with participation from China Merchants Group Ventures, Xianghe Capital, and other institutional investors. The fresh capital will be channeled into large-scale embodied intelligence model training, multimodal data infrastructure development, full-stack software-hardware platform R&D, and expanding a high-density talent team.
Jiang Xu, founder and CEO of Light Origins, previously served as an algorithm specialist at OpenAI, where he was deeply involved in full-stack algorithm development. He witnessed the entire evolution from InstructGPT to ChatGPT and through to GPT-4, gaining firsthand experience of the key technological breakthroughs across these generations. Today, Light Origins has grown to a team of over 100 people, with R&D personnel accounting for more than 90% of the workforce.
Looking ahead, the company plans to roll out results from its large-scale pretraining efforts and showcase cross-embodiment capabilities in the coming months, signaling its ambition to push the boundaries of embodied AI.
