Stop whatever you are doing. The 30th-anniversary Pokémon Presents just wrapped up, and Game Freak actually did it. Generation 10 is officially real.

Say hello to Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves.
But before you start clearing SD card space on your current console, sit down. It is coming in 2027, and it is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.
Yeah, the OG Switch is finally resting in peace. Honestly? Good. We all remember the slideshow frame rates in *Scarlet and Violet*. If ditching the old hardware means we get a game that actually runs properly, I am 100% on board.
Here is a breakdown of the trailer and why my group chats are currently screaming.
The Starters (I would die for Pombon)
Let’s get straight to the only thing that actually matters. The new trio.
Browt (Grass): It’s a grumpy little chickadee with leaves on its eyebrows. I respect the angry bird energy. It looks like it wants to fight me.
Gecqua (Water):A water gecko with giant, dramatic eyelashes. It looks incredibly sassy, like it is constantly judging your life choices.
Pombon (Fire):Look, I am normally a Water-type loyalist, but I am throwing that away immediately. Pombon is a literal fiery Pomeranian puppy. It is perfect. If you pick anything else, we can’t be friends. It’s the easiest starter choice I’ve made in decades.

The Tropical Vibe & Gameplay
The trailer showed off a massive, open-world region that looks heavily inspired by Southeast Asia. It’s all island-hopping, beaches, jungles, and volcanic areas.
And yes, diving is back. We saw a giant Wailord and actual underwater exploration, which we haven’t properly had since the Ruby and Sapphire days.
Also, the graphics? They actually look like a modern video game. The water textures look fantastic, the lighting is totally revamped with a full day/night cycle, and—most importantly—there was a giant windmill in the trailer that was *actually spinning smoothly*. Game Freak finally beat the 2-FPS windmill allegations!

Wait, what’s up with the Pikachus?
They also casually dropped two new Pikachu forms. We are getting “Mr. Windychu” wearing a tropical floral shirt and sunglasses, and “Ms. Wavychu” in a cap and dress. I don’t know if this is a Cosplay Pikachu situation returning from Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, but I’m weirdly here for it.
Waiting until 2027 hurts. It really does. But knowing they are taking an extra year to actually polish a fully 3D, open-world Pokémon game for the new Switch 2 hardware gives me so much hope. It feels like they are finally taking their time.
I’m already claiming the fire dog.
Would you like me to pull the full list of returning Pokémon that eagle-eyed fans have already spotted hiding in the background of the trailer?
