The US and Ukrainian delegations also discussed the importance of humanitarian efforts as part of the peace process, especially during the ceasefire, including the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of detained civilians, and the return of displaced Ukrainian children.
The delegations of both sides agreed to determine the composition of the negotiation team and immediately begin negotiations to achieve lasting peace and ensure Ukraine’s long-term security. The United States promised to discuss these specific proposals with Russian representatives.
The Ukrainian delegation once again emphasized that European partners should participate in the peace process.
Reach a U.S.-Ukraine mineral agreement as soon as possible
The two presidents agreed to reach a comprehensive agreement on the development of Ukraine’s key mineral resources as soon as possible to strengthen Ukraine’s economy and ensure Ukraine’s long-term prosperity and security.
On the same day, Yermak, director of the Ukrainian presidential office, said that the United States and Ukraine have taken important steps toward restoring sustainable peace in Ukraine. The representatives of the two countries agreed that it is time to start building a lasting peace process.
