Toronto Music Festival Shooting Leaves 2 Dead and 6 Injured, Prime Minister Carney Says He’s Shocked

According to a CNN report, Canadian police say a shooting at a music festival in Toronto, the country’s largest city, left two people dead on July 11. Prime Minister Mark Carney took to social media the next day to say he was “shocked” by the incident.

Canadian police said on social media that at around 8:12 p.m. local time, they received a report of gunfire at the “St. Clair Salsa Festival” on West St. Clair Avenue. The attack killed two people and wounded six others. Police have secured the scene.

After the incident, Carney posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying he was “shocked” by the shooting and fully supports law enforcement in capturing the perpetrator and bringing them to justice.

The “St. Clair Salsa Festival” is a long-standing annual Latin-themed cultural event in Toronto. It spans two days, featuring live music, dance performances, and cultural showcases, drawing large crowds of locals and tourists every year.
