On July 12, the U.S. Central Command posted on social media that at 5 p.m. Eastern Time, it launched a new round of strikes against Iran, aiming to “further weaken its ability to attack civilian sailors and commercial ships freely passing through the Strait of Hormuz.”
This marks the fourth time in a week that the U.S. military has struck Iran.
Local media reported early on July 13 that explosions were heard in several areas in Iran, including Bandar Abbas and the Sirik region.
On the evening of July 11, the U.S. military announced it had completed its third strike against Iran for the week.
The U.S. Central Command said it struck about 140 Iranian military targets, including missile and drone launch sites, naval equipment, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks, and coastal surveillance stations. Over three nights of airstrikes this week, the U.S. Central Command hit more than 300 targets.
In response, Iran has launched a series of attacks against U.S. targets in the Middle East.
