On June 4, President Trump dropped some pretty bold remarks, suggesting the U.S. doesn’t actually need to hammer out a formal agreement with Iran to get its hands on the country’s enriched uranium.
He was straightforward about the situation, stating, “We could secure it right now. I truly believe if we wanted to go that route, they couldn’t stop us, but honestly, there’s no real reason to do so. It’s already sealed up and buried deep underground.”
Trump also made it clear that he’s not looking to schedule a face-to-face meeting with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, any time soon. That said, he left the door slightly open, noting that talks could happen down the road if Washington and Tehran actually manage to strike a deal. “If that ever comes to pass, I’ll definitely keep things respectful,” he added.
