Word from reliable sources indicates that John Bolton, who previously served as National Security Advisor during Trump’s first term, is preparing to plead guilty to charges surrounding the mishandling of classified documents.

One insider shared that Bolton plans to admit guilt on a single count of illegally retaining sensitive national security files. Another source confirmed he’s also agreed to pay a fine exceeding $2 million.

The legal trouble really started last August when the FBI conducted a search of his residence and office. By October, he was officially indicted.

Bolton held the National Security Advisor role from April 2018 through September 2019. After stepping down, he became a vocal critic of Trump, which naturally sparked some heavy pushback. The former president even went so far as to threaten that he’d see Bolton locked up.
