Houthi rebels say they attacked US aircraft carrier twice in 24 hours

On the evening of the 16th local time, Yemeni Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a speech that the Houthi armed forces once again attacked the USS Harry Truman and its fleet in the northern Red Sea, using missiles and drones. This is the second time the Houthi armed forces have attacked the same US aircraft carrier in the past 24 hours. The Houthi armed forces successfully thwarted the US attack on Yemen. After the Houthi armed forces launched missile and drone attacks on the USS Truman, several US fighter jets that had taken off and planned to launch air strikes on Yemen were forced to return.

Sarea also said that the Houthi armed forces will target all US warships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, and continue to blockade Israeli ships.

Houthi armed forces: targeting US aircraft carriers

Earlier on the evening of the 16th, Sarea said that in retaliation for the US military’s air strikes against the Houthi armed forces in Yemen, the Houthi armed forces launched 18 ballistic missiles and cruise missiles and an attack drone against the USS Harry S. Truman and its accompanying ships in the northern Red Sea.

Sarea also said that the Houthi armed forces will target all US warships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea and continue to blockade Israeli ships.

A US official revealed on the 16th that US F-16 and F-18 fighter jets shot down a total of 11 drones launched by the Houthi armed forces in Yemen that day. In addition, the US official said that the Houthi armed forces’ drones did not approach the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier.

Houthi armed forces accuse the United States of turning the ocean into a battlefield

On the evening of March 16, local time, Abdul Malik Houthi, the leader of the Yemeni Houthi armed forces, delivered a televised speech saying that the Houthi armed forces “will respond to escalation with escalation, attacking US aircraft carriers, warships and US ships in the Red Sea.” Malik Houthi accused the United States of “turning the ocean into a battlefield and affecting international shipping.”
