On July 9th, Xiaomi dropped some big news about its open-source IoT operating system, OpenVela. The company is upgrading its positioning to the “AI Hardware Smart Foundation,” and for the first time, the lightweight app framework will be fully opened up to developers. At the same time, Xiaomi revealed that the installed base of OpenVela ecosystem devices has now exceeded 180 million units, a whopping 80% increase in less than a year.
