Yu Chengdong Vows to Lead Pangu Model to World Number One

On June 12, at the Huawei Developer Conference (HDC 2026), Huawei’s Executive Director, Chairman of the Product Investment Review Committee, and Chairman of the Terminal BG, Yu Chengdong, stated, “Back when the world didn’t even know what a large model was, Huawei had already launched the Pangu Model. You could say we were the global pioneer in this field. But it didn’t go well later on—that shouldn’t have happened. Just before last year’s National Day, the company asked me to take charge of this large model again. I’m going to lead the team to catch up and surpass, starting from being number one in China, and moving forward to become number one in the world. In my dictionary, Yu Chengdong, there’s no second place—only first place.”
